2021 NAACO Slate of Board Nominees

The following slate of nominees has been put forward by the NAACO Nominations Committee. This year’s vote to approve the nominees will be held electronically prior to the annual membership meeting to be held on Thursday, February 25, 1:10 pm–1:40 pm ET. Each institution shall receive one vote. If you are the primary contact for your institution, you should have received an email on Friday, February 12. If you do not receive this message, and you feel you should be voting on behalf of your institution, please contact us at info@naaco.org.

The voting window will remain open until COB on Friday, February 19, and the official vote will be communicated during the annual membership meeting.

Nominee: President Elect

Liz McMahan
Manager, Convocation & Special Projects;
York University

Liz is the Manager, Convocation & Special Projects in the Division of Advancement at York University. She is responsible for the planning and operational oversight of the University’s 18 convocation ceremonies, along with Orientation Day and Remembrance Day. In addition, the University Events & Ceremonies office coordinates over 75 annual institutional and advancement events including groundbreakings and building openings, recognition events and installation ceremonies. Prior to joining York, Liz spent several years in arts administration, overseeing large festivals and events and also worked as a stage manager for theatre productions and events including the Vancouver Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony.

Claudia Dávila
Director, Commencement and Ceremonies
University of Arizona

Claudia Dávila is the Director, Commencement and Ceremonies at the University of Arizona where she directs the overall production and execution of the main commencement ceremony along with other academic ceremonies. She has been working with commencement operations for over 23 years. Claudia is responsible for budgetary and logistical operations for the department. She also serves on campus committees and assists with campus events.

Mary Beth Rehrer
Manager of Special Events and Programs
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey

Mary Beth is the Manager of Special Events and Programs at Rutgers University where she has been managing University Commencement since 2015. Her career highlight was working on Rutgers’ 250th Anniversary Commencement, at which the then-sitting President Obama spoke to a stadium of 50,000 attendees. In addition to Commencement, Mary Beth also assists with school convocations and is planning her first inauguration. Prior to Rutgers University, Mary Beth directed the fundraising and logistics for Bike MS events for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Mary Beth holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Providence College.
